InDesign Initial Design (December 2013)

I am uploading this document to show how much my skills in InDesign have progressed over the past year.

Back in December 2013 i used InDesign for the first time to create the above double page spread. Following i created the double page spread to gain an understanding of how to succesfully do the following;

  • Setup InDesign to the correct size using 'Margins & Guides'
  • Link together text boxes
  • Place images into InDesign
  • Re-size images in InDesign

FINAL IMAGE

As part of an agreement with the club, i was responsible for creating the front cover for the magazine. When looking at gameplay photographs i decided that non of them where high enough quality to use for the front cover image, gameplay images were also far to busy to use for the front cover and were hard to overlay with text. Consequently i decided to compose the magazine front cover from 3 individual head shots.

Following on i decided to clear the background of all original images. In order to do this i used the magnetic lasso tool to draw around the men in the images and then cleared the backgrounds.

Once i had done this i then set up a new document to the size of my magazine front cover. I then selected the first image and place it on to the document. I then created a new layer on top of the original layer and placed a second image on to the layer. I then repeated this process for the third image.

Furthermore, i used the freetransform tool resize and position the individul photograpghs correctly. Once i was happy with the position and sizing of each individual image, i then merged all visable layers so produce one image.
