UNIT 3: PROGRESS WEEK 1 (10th-17th March 2014)

Setting up the documents

This week i have set up both an InDesign document for my magazine double page spread and a Photoshop document for my magazinr front cover. Moreover, for both documents i used margins & guidlines to ensure that everything was set up to the correct size.

Front Cover
This week i have began to produce my magazine front cover. The main things i have focus on this week is the positioning and size of my front cover image and the masthead of my magazine 'Cavalier'. I have attempted to create a field of depth by giving my magazine masthead a drop shadow and overlapping my masthead with my front cover image. I have also began to place some normal sell lines on my front cover, along with some of the important details such as the date of the issue, the price of the magzine and the bar code. As there is still a large amount of white space left on my front cover, next week i am going to fill more white space with more sell lines, front page splashes and buttons. I am also going to place my main sell line on my front cover. As i have only just started building the basick framework for my front cover, my front cover is currently quite blank and colourless at the minute. So next week i am also going to focus on introducing some colour on to my cover.

Double Page Spread
Basically this week i have set up the basic layout for my double page spread. Moreover, i have inserted the main features of my dps which are, the header, the kicker, the main image and the atrcile itself.  Now that i have built the basic framework of my dps, next week i feel that i need to cover up existing white-space by adding more colour and features to my dps such as shapes and quote insets.
